steps
- Rinse 1.5 cups rice until water runs clear
- Combine the 1.5 cups rinsed rice with 2 cups water in a saucepan and soak for 15 minutes
- Bring to a soft boil, then reduce heat to low, cover
- Simmer for 20 minutes **(or until moisture is absorbed)**
- Remove from heat and let stand covered for 10 minutes
- Fluff and serve
notes
- I have occasionally not done the initial 15 minute soak with seemingly minimal impact on the final product.
- If you want it to actually taste like sushi rice, add some rice vinegar/ mirin
