Add the rye, amaro, simple syrup, cherry juice, and bitters to a mixing glass with ice and stir until cold
Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube
Garnish with the 3 cherries and serve

The original recipe this cocktail is based on didn't call for the maraschino cherry juice, but after workshopping it with Nick and Andrew, we found that it added a nice depth of flavor.
We also tried substituting bourbon for the rye whiskey, as well as a split base of bourbon and scotch to give it a smokier flavor, but ended up settling on all rye as the tastiest version.
There was much debate as to whether the shape of the ice cube mattered, with resident cocktail expert Nisha convinced that a large cube was preferable to the large spheres that Nick was using. This debate was never resolved.
